Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs bagged their third Absa Premiership victory of the season with a 1-0 triumph over Mpumalanga Black Aces on Tuesday night at FNB Stadium.

A first half headed goal in the 32nd minute by Camaldine Abraw was the difference between the two sides. George Lebese sent a deft cross into the area and Abraw headed past Shu-Aib Walters to take the lead.

Although it was the visitors who took the game to Amakhosi, their precision in the final third was lacking as they failed to trouble man of the match, Itumeleng Khune.

A decent chance for Aces came in the ninth minute, when Lebogang Manyama's deflected shot off Erick Mathoho had Khune wrong-footed, but the shot-stopper was relieved to see the ball soar over the crossbar.

After 20 minutes, the hosts regained possession and managed to make a number of entries into AmaZayoni's but failed to add to their tally before the break.

In the second half, the game continued to produce sparks as Khune became busy stopping Aces attacks. In the 69th minute, a Thabo Nonyane cross was met by an intelligent back heel of Sibusiso Masina which nearly beat the Bafana Bafana keeper on his near post, however, the ball went wide.

In the 75th minute, Khune was called to action as he denied Collins Mbesuma and a few seconds later, he denied AmaZayoni when he produced a fantastic save to punch away a deflected shot.

Although Aces showed they wanted to get something out of the match, Khune's resilience did not allow them to salvage a draw as the Soweto giants took the three points.

The win takes Chiefs to the fourth spot on the Absa Premeirship standings with 14 points while the visitors occupy third spot with 15 points.– ANA
