Abductor should have sentence reduced by 13 months, his lawyer argues

A lawyer for a man convicted in the high-profile abduction of a three-year-old boy argued that his client should have his sentence reduced by about a year by enhancing his credit for pre-sentence custody. Kenneth Beatch told a three-judge panel of the B.C. Court of Appeal on Tuesday that the trial judge made no errors in sentencing Randall Peter Hopley to seven years in jail in connection with the September 2011 abduction of Kienan Hebert of Sparwood.
