Burkina coup leader’s wife faces arrest
Burkina Faso’s judicial authorities issued an international arrest warrant against the wife of General Gilbert Diendere.
|||Ouagadougou - Burkina Faso’s judicial authorities on Monday issued an international arrest warrant against Fatou Diendere, the wife of General Gilbert Diendere who led the September 16 failed coup, a judicial source told Xinhua.
The source said Ms Diendere fled the country at the height of the crisis.
The same source said two other officers from the former Presidential Security Regiment (RSP), the unit that organised the coup, who are on the run, are also targeted by the international arrest warrant.
They are Moussa Nebie alias Rambo and Roger Koussoube alias Touareg.
Out of a total of 1 300 soldiers from the disbanded RSP, 15 soldiers have not yet reported to the new stations where they were redeployed, a security source said.
Gen Diendere who is currently under police custody, is facing over 10 charges including crimes against humanity.
Military judiciary has revealed that about 50 people have been questioned as witnesses in relation to the failed coup that left 14 people dead and 250 others injured.
