Ghandi’s great-grand daughter in court

The great-granddaughter of Mahatma Ghandi made a brief appearance in court on charges of fraud.

Durban - The great-granddaughter of Mahatma Ghandi made a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s court on Monday on charges of fraud.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Luvuyo Mfaku said Ashisha Ramgobin, 45, was released on bail of R50 000 and the case against her was postponed to November 19 for further investigation.

Ramgobin is alleged to have defrauded two businessman of R11 million. She had allegedly asked them for help to fund her business venture to supply bedding to a hospital group after winning a tender. There was no such tender and she allegedly provided fraudulent documentation to show that she had containers for linen coming in from India.
