HSBC expected to remain in UK after Government waters down reforms designed to keep Britain's scandal-hit lenders in line

Chief executive Stuart Gulliver is said to have been encouraged to stay by a series of U-turns by the Government which has been trying to persuade the global giant to keep its headquarters in London.
