Turkey Arrests 10 More Suspects over Ankara Twin Blast Tweets

Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Thursday that the authorities have arrested 10 more suspects over posts on Twitter that suggested a blast may take place in Ankara hours before Saturday's deadly suicide bombings, todayszaman.com reported.

"We have ten more detentions as investigations deepen further", Davutoglu said in a live interview with news broadcaster TGRT.

The detentions bring to 12 the number of those held in connection with the twin blast that claimed the lives of nearly 100 people.

A Turkish government official said on Wednesday that police have detained two people who sent tweets suggesting there could be a bomb in Ankara a day before the explosions.  The two have ties to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), according to the official.

Those two suspects allegedly posted tweets that said: “The bomb will explode in Ankara” and “What if (the Islamic State group) explodes (a bomb) in Ankara?”, AP has reported.

Davutoglu told Reuters on Wednesday that some of the suspects in the suicide bombing had spent months in Syria and could be linked to the Islamic State group or PKK.
