Lena Dunham To Direct And Produce 1960s Set Feminism Comedy Pilot 'Max' For HBO

Lena Dunham has been involved in a big way with the f-word today: feminism. It was in her newsletter Lenny that Jennifer Lawrence shared her feelings on the gender wage gap in Hollywood, and now the multi-talented Dunham has a new project coming to HBO, that also has the f-word linked to it, and it arrives perhaps just in time since "Girls" might end after season six....

HBO has ordered up a pilot for the comedy "Max," which Dunham will direct and produce. "Girls" writer and executive producer Murray Miller has penned the debut episode, set in 1963, which will follow a magazine writer who finds herself drawn into the rise of second-wave feminism. That sounds like a pretty great concept, and certainly a different outlook an era than something like the "Mad Men."

Lisa Joyce (“Billy & Billie”) will lead the show (if it goes to series), with "Girls" team Jenni Konner and Ilene Landress joining Miller and Dunham as producers....
