YEREVAN, September 30. /ARKA/. The Armenian Foreign Ministry responded to a controversial statement made by Belarusian Foreign Minister about U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Armenia.

During a recent press briefing, the Foreign Minister of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, argued that a visit to Armenia by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Armenia fuelled the exacerbation of conflicts.

"The head of the diplomatic mission of Belarus to Armenia was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and provided with the concern and considerations of the Armenian side regarding the above mentioned statement,' the ministry said.

During her visit, Nancy Pelosi assured that the United States will continue to actively contribute to the further expansion of bilateral multi-sectoral cooperation and the programs aimed at the development of democracy in Armenia.

The delegation led by Pelosi visited the Armenian Genocide Victims' Memorial Complex, held meetings with the Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, gave a press conference, spoke at the Gafesjian Art Center, met with the parliamentary opposition, and had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
