YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. The number of ambulance calls in Armenia this year has dropped, but the number of hospitalized patients has increased, the head of Ambulance Service Taguhi Stepanyan said at a press conference today.

According to the data she cited, there have been a total of 193,431 ambulance calls since the beginning of 2022, by 14,476 fewer than in the same time span last year.

"Although the number of calls has decreased overall, the number of people hospitalized as a result has risen by 7,255. The number of pediatric calls have grown by 4,769 to 16,604, and 1,406 more children have been taken to hospitals than last year," she said.

Stepanyan noted that the number of calls for situations like cardiac arrests has increased by 16,482. As for sunstroke, there have been 12 cases in 2022 and 10 in 2021.

"The overall number of calls has gone down because the years 2020 and 2021 were very busy years for us because of the number of covid cases. This year, for example, there have been 4,228 fewer calls for suspected coronavirus cases," she stressed.

According to her, most of the calls have been for cardiovascular cases, with acute respiratory illnesses coming second and traumas third. "There have been 5,711 more calls for signs of acute respiratory disease this year, and 1,167 more calls for injuries," she stressed.

Stepanyan specified that the number of callouts for life-threatening conditions make 20-25% of the total, an average of 750 calls per day. --0--
