Robert Arzumanyan: We stopped believing in our strength
“The match against Albania is the worst that I have ever seen in the team”, central fullback Robert Arzumanyan said that to the journalists after losing last match of Euro-2016 qualifier.
The qualifier matches started very bad for Armenian national team, with only partially successful matches, either the first half or the second. However, we didn’t have a full good match.
We played very badly against Albania and deserved this result. It’s true that we were to blame in the goal situations, we were losing the ball a lot and giving the opponent the opportunity to attack. The whole team was playing poorly, not only the central fullbacks. We have no words of justification in front of the fans. We just played horribly”, said Arzumanyan.
Armenian fans not once expressed their anger and discontent. One of the demands was that the footballers should sing the national anthem.
“Some footballers sing the national anthem, some don’t. I can’t answer why. I always sing. Some people don’t sing because of a superstition and some others, for instance, Gael Andonian- because they don’t know the lyrics”.
Arzumanyan wishes that the team is united for the World Cup 2018 and it will regain the belief in its own strength that has been lost. According to him, they even couldn’t win Albania without that faith .
