Mirzoyan to meet with Blinken and Bayramov in New York, Deputy Parliament speaker tells Japan ambassador Azerbaijan preparing another attack on Armenia from Nakhijevan

YEREVAN, Sept. 19. /ARKA/. A trilateral meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov will be held in New York on Monday.

According to Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman Vahan Hunanyan, the meeting will be held on the initiative of the American side. Mirzoyan is in New York to attend the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

In the meantime, the deputy speaker of Armenian parliament Hakob Arshakyan told the Japanese ambassador to Armenia Masanori Fukushima that there is reliable evidence that Azerbaijan is preparing for a new attack on  Armenia from the territory of its exclave Nakhijevan.

Arshakyan briefed the Ambassador on the September 13 offensive launched by the Azerbaijani armed forces.

The Ambassador said that he would pass to the Government of Japan the information presented by Arshakyan on the situation in Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.

Around midnight on September 13, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack in the southern and southeastern directions of the Republic of Armenia, encroaching on the territorial integrity of Armenia.

The aggression was carried out with the use of artillery, mortars and UAVs, including not only in the Armenia-Azerbaijan bordering area, but also in the areas of Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish and Ishkhanasar settlements and their civilian infrastructure of Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions.

On September 14, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to cease fire on the border as of 8 p.m. Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council Armen Grigoryan said in an interview with the Public Television of Armenia that the ceasefire was brokered by Armenia's international partners. According to Prime Minister Pashinyan, 135 Armenian soldiers were killed in clashes with Azerbaijani troops. Azerbaijan said it lost 75 soldiers.-0-
