Students in some communities of Gegharkunik and Syunik in Armenia given holidays because of Azerbaijani aggression

YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. Azerbaijan's military aggression against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Armenia launched at midnight of September 13, 2022, has violated the rights of students of educational institutions in a number of communities of Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports said.

It said in order to ensure the safety of children, it decided to provide educational institutions of Gegharkunik and Syunik regions with extra holidays, if necessary, on the condition that they make up for the missed lessons in the future.

At the same time, the local self-government bodies were asked to temporarily classes in the pre-school educational institutions of these settlements.

On September 13 at midnight, Azerbaijani armed forces began intensive shelling of Armenian positions using artillery and large-caliber guns and drones targeting Armenian Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish and Ishkhanasar.

In some directions of the border, Azerbaijani troops attempted to advance into Armenian territory, but retreated after Armenian troops’ proportional response.

According to the Armenian Defense Ministry as of 2 p.m., the situation in some parts of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border remained extremely tense.

According to preliminary data, 49 Armenian servicemen were killed on the Armenian side and three civilians were wounded. -0-
