Russian Foreign Ministry expresses extreme concern over resumed fighting on Armenian-Azerbaijani border
YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed its extreme concern over the sharp deterioration of the situation in certain areas of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on September 13.
"We have received an appeal from the Armenian leadership with a request for assistance in resolving the situation in accordance with existing bilateral agreements and through CSTO. We think that the agreement on cease-fire from 9 a.m. Moscow time reached with Russian mediation on September 13th will be fully implemented," the ministry stated.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the sides to refrain from further escalation of the situation, to show restraint and strictly observe the ceasefire in accordance with the trilateral statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said it was in close contact with Baku and Yerevan.
"We still proceed from the fact that all disputed problems between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be resolved exclusively by political and diplomatic means, and regarding border issues - within the framework of the bilateral commission on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border with the consultative assistance of Russia," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.-0-
