Armenia calls on Russia, CSTO and U.N. to stop Azerbaijani attacks

YEREVAN, September 13. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan chaired an emergency Security Council session late on Monday, which was attended by President Vahagn Khachaturyan, National Assembly Speaker Alain Simonyan and Security Council members to discuss steps to counter Azerbaijan's midnight aggression against Armenia's sovereign territory.

"In connection with the aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia, it was decided to make an official appeal to the Russian Federation to implement the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, to the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the UN Security Council to implement the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance regarding the aggression against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia," the government said.

According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, Azerbaijani Armed Forces units began intensive shelling of Armenian positions from artillery and large-caliber guns in the direction of Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish, Ishkhanasar at 00:05 on September 13.

The enemy also uses UAVs. According to the latest information, the Azerbaijani units advanced into the Armenian territory in some sections of the Armenian border. It said the positional battles were continuing, the Armenian Armed Forces were said to be retaliating. According to the ministry, the aggression resulted in casualties and injured on the Armenian side.
