Blinken expressed U.S. readiness to make efforts to stabilize situation on border between Armenia and Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, September 13, /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The Prime Minister presented details about the aggression launched by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia. Nikol Pashinyan informed that in connection with the ongoing actions, a decision has been made to officially apply to the Russian Federation Council for the implementation of the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, to the Collective Security Treaty Organization and to the UN Security Council. In this context, Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed hope for an adequate reaction of the international community.

Antony Blinken expressed the deep concern of the American side regarding the created situation and considered the further escalation of the situation inadmissible. He expressed the readiness of the USA to make efforts to stabilize the situation.

Earlier, Pashinyan discussed the situation with French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, Azerbaijani Armed Forces units began intensive shelling of Armenian positions from artillery and large-caliber guns in the direction of Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish, Ishkhanasar at 00:05 on September 13.

The enemy also uses UAVs. According to the latest information, the Azerbaijani units advanced into the Armenian territory in some sections of the Armenian border. It said the positional battles were continuing, the Armenian Armed Forces were said to be retaliating. According to the ministry, the aggression resulted in casualties and injured on the Armenian side. -0-
