Armenia’s jewelry output surges by 59 percent in 8 months
YEREVAN, October 9. / ARKA /. Armenia’s jewelry output in the first eight months of 2015 surged by 59% from the year before to 11.15 billion drams, the National Statistical Service (NSS) said.
It also said 694 kg of jewelry were produced in January-August, which was 3.3% less than in the same period last year.
According to NSS, diamond production during the reporting period grew to 50,168 carats from 40,319 carats in January-August 2014.
The export of precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and products in January-August 2015 declined by 6.5% to approximately $140.3 million, while imports of these types of goods plunged by 64.2% to $73.2 million. -0-
