Town of Sisian to host Armenian-Iranian Cultural and Gastro Festival Navasard

YEREVAN, July 28. /ARKA/. The town of Sisian in the southern Armenian province of Syunik will host August 10-11 the Armenian-Iranian Cultural and Gastro Festival Navasard, the Armenian Tourism Federation reported.

The first day of the event will feature Armenian and Iranian teams that will present in their pavilions the diversity and history of their national cuisines from the Urartian-Achaemenid period.

Songs, dances, music, art samples and handicrafts will be on display in the cultural and musical zones. Before the start of the festival there will be a competition between the teams in various categories, and at the end of the festival there will be a prize-awarding ceremony.

On the second day at 03:00-05:00 am there will be a visit to the historical and cultural reserve Zorats Karer for stargazing.

A string quartet will also present classical Armenian music. At 04:00, when the constellation of Hayk (Orion)  rises in the sky, Kroonk, a song by famous composer Komitas will be performed.

The festival is a joint initiative of  the Armenian Tourism Federation and  Development and Preservation of Armenian Culinary Traditions NGO with the support of the Tourism Committee, the Syunik provincial  administration, Sisian Municipality, Iranian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism and  Iranian Embassy in Armenia. -0-
