Only Canizares ahead of Real Madrid record breaker Keylor Navas
Only Santiago Canizares has a better record at Real Madrid than current goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
Sabin Merino (Athletic Bilbao) and Luciano Vietto (Atletico Madrid) have beaten the Costa Rican international who was just minutes away from breaking the club record for not conceding which was previously held by Miguel Angel.
Keylor equals the league starts of Paco Buyo in the 87/88 season under Leo Beenhakker, Araquistain in 61/62 (under Miguel Muñoz) and Domínguez during the start of the 57/58 campaign.
Only Cañizares holds a superior record in the club's history. At the start of the 1997/98 season, Cañizares only had to pick the ball from his net on one occasion when Juninho scored for Atleti at the Bernabéu on the opening day of the season as the Madrid derby ended 1-1.
In the 85 years of La Liga history, only 19 goalkeepers have reached the seventh round of fixtures having conceded two goals or less.
