Armenian government to alienate land plots for construction of section of North-South Transport Corridor
YEREVAN, June 30. /ARKA/. The Armenian government approved today land alienation for the construction of a section of the North-South Transport Corridor.
Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan said the land plots are in a section of the road that will stretch from Sisian to Kajaran.
'In all, there are 570 plots of land that will be used for construction 60 kilometers of the road. There will be 27 bridges with a total length of 4.7 km and 9 tunnels with a total length of 12.6 km, the longest of which will be 8.6 km,' the minister said.
Sanosyan said that the tenders for the construction have not been held yet.
The North-South Transport Corridor links the northwestern part of the Eurasian Economic Union and Scandinavian countries with the states of Central Asia, the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. The corridor includes rail, road and inland water transport infrastructure, seaports on the Caspian Sea, ports in the Persian Gulf, road and rail checkpoints, as well as international airports.
The agreement on the North-South Transport Corridor was signed in September, 2000 by India, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation. -0-
