Armenian president knows who may become next leader of the country
YEREVAN, October 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan knows who would be the next leader of the country.
Speaking October 1 in a “reference-free” discussion held by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in New York Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan said he really could predict who would be the future leader of Armenia, but said he feared that if he announced the name, that person would have to go through hellish days before becoming the leader.
‘And second, I am afraid that this person will misjudge my prediction now", Sargsyan said.
"But I know who it could be, and in my opinion, the duty of any high-ranking leader is to see who will replace him, but not to necessarily make statements to that regard", said Sargsyan.
Sargsyan’s second presidential term will expire in 2018. He has no right to seek a third term, but before that Armenians will go to the polls to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to a package of constitutional reforms designed to make Armenia a parliamentary republic..-0-
