Moscow welcomes active efforts to unblock economic and transport ties between Armenia and Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, June 22. /ARKA/. Moscow welcomes the active efforts of the trilateral Armenian-Azerbaijani-Russian working group co-chaired by their deputy prime ministers to unblock economic and transport ties in the South Caucasus, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

"As you know, the tenth meeting of this group took place on June 3. The sides brought their positions closer on a number of issues. Discussions continued on June 16-17 on the margins of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum," Zakharova said. She reiterated that the Russian side would continue to provide close assistance to the process.

The trilateral working group co-chaired by Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan - Mher Grigoryan, Alexey Overchuk and Shahin Mustafayev was formed as part of an agreement signed by Armenia and Azerbaijan on January 11, 2021.

It deals with unblocking of economic and transport communications of the South Caucasus region, border, customs and other types of control, as well as safe passage of people, vehicles and goods by road and rail across the territories of Azerbaijan and Armenia. --0--
