Man nabbed with unlicensed firearm
A man has been arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Joburg, police said.
|||Johannesburg - A 33-year-old man has been arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Johannesburg, police said.
Warrant Officer Xola Mbele said on Thursday that the man was arrested at the corner of De Villiers and Wanderers Street.
The arrest was made after police stopped two men who were acting suspiciously. One of the men ran away.
The other was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The firearm has been linked to a 46-year-old man from Brixton, who passed away in 2002.
Police investigations are under way to determine how the firearm of the deceased ended up with the arrested man.
The man will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Friday.
