YEREVAN, September 29. / ARKA /. A member (minister) of the Eurasian Economic Commission Board Robert Harutyunyan during a working visit to Yerevan discussed with representatives of the State Food Safety Service a set of issues relating to the delivery of Armenian food products to the Eurasian Economic Union's markets, particularly, to the Russian markets.

"The parties also discussed the possibility of closer cooperation between Armenian state bodies and their colleagues from other EEU member states, especially with Rosselkhoznadzor (Russian food safety watchdog)," the Eurasian Economic Commission said.

Harutyunyan was quoted as saying that the question of recognition of the correspondence of the Armenian State Food Safety Service by Rosselkhoznadzor was placed in the list of barriers to the efficient functioning of the Union Treaty, which implies a purposeful work to resolve that issue.

"Identification of constraints and barriers to the development of trade and economic relations in the EEU's markets is an important direction of the Commission's work,' Harutyunyan said. He added that an inventory of the main barriers was compiled ad there is active work for their elimination.

The parties were said also to have  noted the need for coordination of the work of relevant control services to prevent the delivery of  unsafe food products to Armenia and from there to other EEU member countries’ markets.

The Armenian agency  unveiled a plan of actions designed to  modernize its operations, including laboratory capacities, which will allow a more complete and timely monitoring of products safety. In addition, the sides recognized the importance of Armenia's participation in joint inspections conducted by surveillance and control services of the participating countries in third countries. -0-
