Danny Boyle Aiming To Film And Release 'Trainspotting 2' In 2016
It looks like things are getting pretty real when it comes to the long brewing "Trainspotting" sequel. Danny Boyle has been talking it up for a while now, and said last month that plans for a 2016 shoot were hoped for, but depended on working out the scheduling for the four principal cast members, many of whom have TV commitments. But it seems things are starting to gel as the director now has a timeframe for filming, and even more, hopes to have the movie in theaters next year as well.
Boyle told THR that the plan is for filming to take place in "May/June" with the aim to release the movie in 2016 as well (it would be a nice way to mark the twentieth anniversary of the first movie). The pieces are still coming together in terms of financing and what not, with Boyle confirming he's met with Film4 to talk about the movie, but the idea is to keep the budget down to maintain his vision of the project.
