Journalists ask the Investigating Committee to investigate Russian correspondent’s death in Ukraine
The Trade Union of Journalists and Mass Media Workers' members have appealed to the Investigating Committee of Russia and asked to investigate the death of The Insider’s journalist* Oksana Baulina in Ukraine. On March 23, she was carrying out an editorial assignment and filming the destruction in the Podolsk District. Baulina came under fire, one local resident died with her, two people were taken to the hospital with injuries.
Before joining The Insider**, Baulina worked on the Navalny Live YouTube Channel, collaborated with Mediazona**, Radio Liberty**, Belsat and other media. The journalist left Russia after the Anti-Corruption Foundation* was included in the list of extremist organizations.
According to the Ukrainian Institute of Mass Media, five journalists have been killed in the country since February 24: the LIVE TV Channel’s videographer Evgeny Sakun, documentary maker Brent Renaud, the Fox News Channel’s videographer Pierre Zakrzewski, Ukrainian journalist Alexandra Kuvshinova, and Oksana Baulina. Seven more journalists were injured.
