Bulgaria Names New Consuls General in Edirne, Toronto

Vasil Valchev will be Bulgaria’s new consul general in Edirne, Turkey, the government in Sofia announced on Wednesday.

Valchev has been Bulgaria’s consul general in Thessaloniki, Greece from 2011 to 2015. He will take over from Lyubomir Popov, whose term of office as the consul general in Edirne has expired, the government said in a statement following a weekly meeting.

The cabinet also named Petar Kraichev as Bulgaria’s new consul general in Toronto, Canada, replacing Ivo Moskurov, whose term of office has expired. Kraichev has held various positions at the Foreign Ministry since 2002. He served with Bulgaria’s embassy to the United States from 2005 to 2008 and then again from 2010 to 2013.
