Limpopo uni’s R10m fraudster gets bail
Lesiba Lazarus Lebelo, who earned over R10 million fraudulently while working for the University of Limpopo, has been released on bail.
|||Limpopo - A man who was arrested for using someone else’s matric certificate to gain employment at the University of Limpopo had been released on bail, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations (Hawks) said on Wednesday.
“The Labour Relations Manager at the University of Limpopo’s Turfloop Campus has been granted a R3000 bail by the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court,” spokesman Lieutenant Robert Netshiunda said.
Lesiba Lazarus Lebelo, 59, was arrested on Tuesday at his house in Polokwane after it was found he had used a fraudulent matric certificate to find employment at the university. He had allegedly made use of someone else’s serial number.
In employment since 1996, Lebelo had earned over R10 million fraudulently.
He would appear in court again on November 26.
