FTSE LIVE: Footsie regains 6,000 level as commodity stocks bounce

Approaching mid morning, the FTSE 100 index had gained 71.5 points, or 1.2 per cent to 6,007.4, recapturing the 6,000 level surrendered yesterday. European markets also made good gains.
