Vaughn Palmer: Cavalier attitude is behind huge privacy breach by province

VICTORIA — As the B.C. Liberals told it Tuesday, a potentially massive breach of privacy involving students, parents and teachers has its roots in a concern about earthquake proofing in the Ministry of Education. Fearing the destruction of key files were a quake to devastate the headquarters building in downtown Victoria, the ministry decided to store backup copies in a more secure warehouse on the Saanich peninsula.
