Johnanesburg police have arrested two men for being in possession of a firearm belonging to someone else.
|||Johannesburg - Police on Wednesday said they had arrested two suspects for the possession of a firearm belonging to someone else at corner Park Avenue and Dolly Rathebe Street in the Johannesburg CBD.
Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said police were doing routine crime prevention duties when they noticed a suspicious white VW van on Tuesday night.
“They stopped it and searched the two occupants inside. Police recovered a firearm inside the vehicle with seventeen live rounds,” said Mbele.
The firearm has a serial number which has been linked to a 59-year-old Daveyton resident.
“Investigation is continuing to determine how the suspects ended up with the firearm,” said Mbele.
