Durban - The mother of multi-award-winning gospel artist Sifiso Ncwane, who bought his pastor a R1.9 million luxury car last week, says she is living in poverty and that her “rich” son does not care about her.

Fikile Ncwane, 60, who stays in Umthwalume on the South Coast, said her son had forgotten about her.

She said she last saw Sifiso in February this year and since then, there had been no visit or communication between them.

“He took me to town and bought groceries for me. But now when I phone him, he does not answer my calls and when I send text messages, he does not respond.”

Sobbing, she said previously Sifiso had been “a good son” and had supported them, but had changed.

“At the moment, the situation at home is not going well. Sifiso knows none of us are working, yet he does not help us. Now all I want is for him to talk to me and explain himself because when I die, I do not want to be an evil ancestor to them.”

She conceded that she was not on good terms with Sifiso’s wife.

“Ayanda has told some people why they were not supporting me, but I do not want to discuss that with the media.”

In a profile in The Mercury’s sister paper Isolezwe, Sifiso Ncwane said he did not own a house but had bought land. His wife and manager, Ayanda Ncwane, said they would not speak to the media.

Sifiso Ncwane bought Nigerian Pastor Francis Anosike, of Rock of Victory Ministries International Church in Johannesburg, an AMG Mercedes-Benz GL 63 V8.

He said it was a “thank-you” gift for the pastor’s service to him when he had been ill.
