Cape Town - Rolfes Holdings said on Monday that export growth of 20 percent had driven turnover growth of 13 percent, from R1 billion to R 1.13 billion, in the year to the end of June.

Profit came in at R47 million, up from R38 million in the prior corresponding period, translating into headline earnings per share of 38.2 cents, an improvement of 30.4 percent on last year’s 29.3 cents per share.

A statement from the provider of industrial, agricultural, water and mining chemicals said it was not paying a dividend because it wanted to preserve cash for investment.

The company – which has a footprint and customer base extending throughout Africa and to Asia, North America and eastern and western Europe – said it was “on a track to build a black-controlled industrial group, well positioned to provide specialised niche and commodity chemicals and related products to contribute and support the global need for food, agricultural, water, industrial products and infrastructure development in domestic and foreign emerging markets”.

“The group has positioned itself to support these needs through its water, agricultural and industrial chemicals divisions, as well as through the pending food division acquisition,” the statement added.
