Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer’s apology has been met with strong reactions from South African ruby fans.

The coach apologised for his team’s “unacceptable” performance in their first game of the Rugby World Cup at the Brighton Community Stadium.

“It was just not good enough. It was unacceptable and I take full responsibility,” Meyer lamented.

Having won the World Cup in 1995 and 2007, Bok fans were sure that minnows Japan would pose no threat to their team.

Stunned South Africans wasted no time in airing their bitter dissatisfaction with the Boks’ 34-32 loss.

Some commentors have blamed the shock loss on the avaerage age of the Bok team, which boasts a number of World Cup veterans.
