TUSUR Scientists learned to trace UAVs in a city

TOMSK, Sept 21 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of Tomsk University of Control Systems and Radio Electronics (TUSUR) created a system for passive radars allowing to define location of UAVs in a city more precisely the press service of the higher education institution reports on Monday. It is specified that tracking of flights of drones is one of actual tasks, all use them for cargo delivery and monitoring of various objects more actively, air space can be opened for UAVs by 2020 in the Russian Federation. The system of active compensation for locators of continuous radiation developed by TUSUR allows to trace object more precisely. "Traditional, active locators determine object coordinates by the reflected signal which they radiate, the passive system uses a set of signals of third-party sources for determination of coordinates which are reflected from a radar target: transmitters of cellular communication, broadcasting, digital TV", – the press service quotes the developer Evgeny Rogozhnikov. According to him, there is a problem to distinguish the useful one from these numerous signals – often it is very weak because of remoteness. The system of compensation offered by TUSUR scientists allows to reduce the power of signals hindrances more than by 800 times (to 30 decibels). Originality of the TUSUR device was confirmed with the patent for the useful model in 2015. "Suppression of powerful parasitic signals happens directly at the time of reception of a signal, the power of such hindrance considerably decreases at the entrance of the analog-digital converter", – the developer specifies. The principles of work of this system are similar to those which are used for communication systems 5G. It is specified that the device can be installed on any radar and will allow to receive a gain in range of action of the whole class of radar-tracking systems. Besides tracking of flight of drones, the development will be useful at creation of radar for navigation, protection of perimeter, altimeters and others
