Bulgaria Arrests Two Men Trying to Smuggle 58 Afghan Migrants into Serbia

Bulgaria said on Friday it has cracked down on a people trafficking ring smuggling migrants bound for Western Europe from Bulgaria into Serbia.

The State Agency for National Security and Border Police thwarted an attempt by two Bulgarian nationals to smuggle into Serbia 58 citizens of Afghanistan  at the border village of Golemanovo in Vidin Region, in northwestern Bulgaria, on Thursday night, the security agency, known by its Bulgarian acronym DANS, said in a statement.

The two people traffickers have been detained in police custody. A criminal investigation has been opened to find their possible accomplices in the trafficking scheme.
