Fugitive Armenian civil activist booked in mental hospital and charged with gross theft
YEREVAN, September 19. /ARKA/. Vahan Martirosyan, an Armenian civil activist, that asked political asylum in Azerbaijan, is in the mental clinic's books and is charged by the police with gross theft, the press office of the Investigation Committee of Armenia reports.
According to the report, on March 28, 2015 Martirosyan was diagnosed with hysterical personality disorder.
He is also charged with stealing $3,820 from one of apartments in Yerevan.
The owners of the apartment told the police that the money disappeared at a period between September 21 and 25, when Martirosyan, his wife and child stayed at their apartment.
A forensic examination was ordered and Martirosyan's wife was summoned for interrogation, but she asked some adjournment for consulting a lawyer for advice.
On September 2, Vahan Martirosyan was taken to the police and left a written pledge not to leave the city, but he refused to testify.
Later, the court authorized a search in his home and transcripts of phone talks.
On September 9, he was charged with the crime and announced wanted by the police. ---0----
