Juventus loss will have taken something away from Man City - Redknapp

Jamie Redknapp believes Manchester City's loss to Juventus may have affected the morale of the team.

Manuel Pellegrini's side conceded twice in the final 20 minutes to lose 2-1 at home to the Italian giants in their opening Champions League outing.

It may just be a minor setback after a brilliant start to the Premier League season but Redknapp is of the belief that City were 'naive' and need to take a different mindset into the weekend's domestic clash with West Ham United.

"To be honest, I was amazed by City's performance," wrote Redknapp in his analysis for Sky Sports.

"You can't always win games - especially against top teams in Europe. But you can't afford to lose them like that. Even a draw would have been a decent result.

"Instead, City were naive. And that just doesn't make sense when you look at all the world class, experienced players they have in their team.

"City could win the Premier League in quicker time than any previous champion, given how their title rivals have started in comparison.

"But that game against Juventus will have taken something away from them mentally and physically and it's a great time for West Ham to be playing them.

"This is going to be a real grind for City - but they need to show the fans something and win their trust back after losing in midweek."
