Armenian government to allocate AMD 550 million for purchasing pedigree cows
YEREVAN, September 17. /ARKA/. Armenia's government decided today to allocate AMD 550 million for purchasing pedigree cows.
«We received a proposal to amend the 2015 budget to acquire pedigree cows,» said Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan. «Some 257 cows were bought this year under the 2007-2015 cattle breeding program, but it is planned to purchase other 453 cows to cater for the increase demand, and AMD 550 million is needed for that.»
In his words, the cows will be distributed among 35 farms.
According to the agriculture ministry's figures, the number of cows rose 3.6% in Jan-July 2015, compared with the same period of the previous year, to 775,000 and small cattle units rose 7.2% to 981,000. ($1 – AMD 482.76). --0------
