FTSE CLOSE: Rollercoaster day for the Footsie as it finishes afternoon strongly; Kingfisher post drop in profits

The index was down by more than 60 points during the session but later turned higher, finishing 53 points up at 6137.6. Germany's Dax and France's Cac 40 also rose.
