Man held for fatal assault on girlfriend
A 34-year-old man was in police custody after being arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death on a North West farm.
|||Potchefstroom - A 34-year-old man was in police custody on Monday after being arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death on a farm in Stella at the weekend, North West police said.
“It is alleged that on Saturday night,12 September 2015 the suspect forcefully took his girlfriend from Edenhof farm where they are both employed to Piet Plessis village. On their way the suspect allegedly started assaulting his girlfriend,” said police spokesperson Kealeboga Molale.
“On Sunday, 13 September 2015, when the victim did not return home, the family went to the boyfriend’s place and did not find her.”
The woman’s family alerted police, who arrested the suspect, and questioned him.
“The deceaseds half- naked body was in the bushes with multiple injuries sustained due to severe beatings on Sunday after the suspect told the police where he left the deceased alive,” said Molale.
The suspect was expected to appear in the Ganyesa Magistrate’s Court soon.
