Naspers changes video head
Naspers replaces the head of its Video Entertainment group after it made some changes to the unit about a year ago.
|||Johannesburg - Naspers has replaced the head of its Video Entertainment group after it made some changes to the unit about a year ago, it told shareholders today.
In a statement, the listed media conglomerate said Imtiaz Patel would take over from Jim Volkwyn as CEO of the Video Entertainment group.
Patel has been with the Naspers group since 1999 and has held various management roles including CEO of SuperSport and more recently, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa group.
Naspers says it si busy with seeking a replacement for Patel at MultiChoice SA.
Volkwyn will continue to be involved with the group and will remain a director of MultiChoiceSA, it adds.
The listed company’s Video Entertainment unit operates subscriber platforms in 50 countries across sub-Saharan Africa, with more than 10 million households signed up.
It used various technologies to offer direct-to-home (DTH) satellite services, digital terrestrial (DTT) services, online as well as mobile services.
Its products include GOtv - a provider of DTT pay-television services on the African sub-continent with operations in 11 countries and 112 cities, M-Net, SuperSport, Internet service provider MWeb and Irdeto, which is a global provider of content security, management and delivery for pay-media companies.
