Tour bus collision leaves 41 injured

Forty-one people were injured in central Switzerland when a British tourist bus and four trucks were involved in a collision on Friday, police said. Four people suffered serious injuries in the accident that occurred around lunchtime in a construction zone on a motorway between the towns of Sempach and Sursee. The tourist bus was on its way back from Italy. The cause is under investigation, a Lucerne cantonal police statement said. The damage is estimated to run into “several hundred thousand Swiss francs”. At least three rescue helicopters and 20 ambulances went to the accident site about 40 kilometres southwest of Zurich.  The construction zone, which is on the A2 road, has seen several collisions of late. This includes as recently as Tuesday, when a delivery van drove into the wall of the Eich Tunnel and flipped over, causing injury to the driver.
