YEREVAN, September 9. / ARKA /. Rostelecom-Armenia expects its subscriber base to double at the end of the year, company CEO Hayk Faramazyan told reporters Wednesday.

According to him, in 2014 the subscriber base more than doubled from the previous year. He added the company expects the same to happen this year as well.

"We have now more than 30,000 subscribers whose number continues to grow rapidly. This allows us to conclude that we now have the fastest-growing subscriber base among other telecommunication operators in Armenia", said Faramazyan.

He noted that the company's network is now available almost everywhere in Yerevan - with the exception of Shengavit and Kanaker-Zeytun districts, as well as in more than 20 other provincial towns.

"Taking into account the interest of subscribers to our services and the growth of subscriber base in recent years, especially against the background of growing interest in  Smart TV, we are considering additional investments next year to ensure a coverage throughout the capital and regions," said Faramazyan.

GNC-ALFA began promotion and sale of broadband Internet, IP-TV and a new generation of IP-telephony in Armenia under the brand of Rostelecom from 2012 December.   The company’s fiber-optic network covers 80% of the territory of Armenia, extending to more than 2,500 km.  The network is connected to the main regional backbones and major traffic exchange sites, as well as international channels via Georgia and Iran.

Rostelecom is a dynamically developing Russia's largest telecommunications group, providing services in all segments of the market throughout the country. The company occupies a leading position in the Russian market of broadband services and pay-TV. Currently, it has 13 million mobile telephony subscribers.-0-
