Two people were killed when a truck and a car collided on Durban’s M7 highway.

Durban - Two people were killed when a truck and a car collided on Durban’s M7 highway shortly before midday on Tuesday, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said the two vehicles collided under the bridge where the N2 crosses the M7, also known as Edwin Swales Drive.

He said that the truck had veered up the side embankment of the bridge and that the truck driver had been declared dead.

Both the vehicles were travelling in in the same direction towards Durban’s harbour area. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the driver of the car, but their efforts were unsuccessful and he was also declared dead at the accident scene, Botha said.

The cause of the accident is not known and police and emergency crews were on scene.
