Arthur Aleksanyan of Armenia defends his world champion title
YEREVAN, September 8. / ARKA /. Armenian Greco-Roman style wrestler Arthur Aleksanyan successfully defended his world champion title, condemning London 2012 gold medalist Ghasem Rezaei of Iran to silver with a 3-0 triumph at 98 kg in Las Vegas, USA. Bronze medals were won by Russian Magomedov Islam and Ukrainian Dmitry Timchenko.
Arthur Aleksanyan is one of the most renowned Armenian Greco-Roman style wrestlers. He was silver medalist of the London Olympics, he is also the winner of the Universiade in Russian Kazan and a three-time European champion.
He won the first "gold" medal in September 2014 at Tashkent World Cup .
In another sport event Armenia’s national soccer team played a goalless draw in a Euro-2016 qualifier against Denmark yesterday in Armenia.
Armenia’s team has scored two points after seven games with no win. The last qualifier will be played October 11 in Yerevan against Albanians.-0-
