Johannesburg - The EFF’s Limpopo co-ordinator Jossey Buthane has been arrested in Mahwelereng, this time for inciting public violence.

It isn’t the first time that Buthane has found himself on the wrong side of the law. He recently appeared in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on a charge of common assault after he allegedly hit a University of Limpopo student with a stick during a student gathering.

He was expected back in court for the charge on September 23.

In February 2012, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting ANC Youth League member Herman Mabelebele at a rally, also at the university.

In September last year, Buthane faced a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm for allegedly beating Rudzani Ntwampe at an EFF meeting in Mahwelereng township outside Mokopane.

According to police in Mankweng, Buthane might not be released this time around because he was recently released on bail. He was arrested with other EFF leaders Nicolas Mabusela, Frans Molomo and Nancy Kgomo.

Police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Ronel Otto, who said Buthane will appear in the Mahwelereng Magistrate courts on Monday, has confirmed that the suspect was charged for inciting public violence.
