Harry Potter's Son James Gets Sorted Into Gryffindor at Hogwarts, J.K. Rowling Reveals
Must be something in his DNA! Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley's eldest, James Sirius Potter, started at Hogwarts on Tuesday, Sept. 1, and in the grand tradition of the wizarding school, was assigned to a house by the legendary Sorting Hat. Like his father, mother, and uncle Ron Weasley before him, James was sorted into Gryffindor.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling revealed the news via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, just a few hours into James' first day.

Earlier that morning, Rowling, 50, set Twitter abuzz when she asked her followers to support James on his first day. "I'm in Edinburgh, so could somebody at King's Cross wish James S Potter good luck for me?" she wrote. "He's starting at Hogwarts today. #BackToHogwarts"
The tweet started an hours-long #BackToHogwarts Twitter trend, with countless photos of Potter fans posing on the famed Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross Station. There were so many tweets, in fact, that Rowling began to worry they would overwhelm James.
Now worried that he'll be irritated by the number of people saying hi. https://t.co/6keaEOsKS0

Gryffindor is one of four houses — along with Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin — at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. According to lore (and the Harry Potter wiki), students sorted into Gryffindor are courageous, chivalrous, and determined. Notable alumni, besides Harry, Ginny, and Ron, include Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, Albus Dumbledore, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Harry's parents.
