One dead in head-on N2 crash

Cape Town - One man was killed and two others injured when two vehicles collided head-on in the Southern Cape, paramedics said on Wednesday.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the accident occurred on the N2 highway near Sedgefield.

“Paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found both light motor vehicles lying crushed in the middle of the road, with debris spread across the scene.”

Meiring said paramedics found a man lying trapped motionless inside one of the vehicle.

“Unfortunately the man had already succumbed to his multiple injuries prior to the arrival of emergency services.”

Two other patients, a man and woman, were found on the scene with serious injuries, Meiring added.

“Paramedics immobilised and treated both patients, providing them with advanced life support interventions.”

Once treated, the patients were transported by ambulance to Mediclinic George for urgent care.

Local authorities were on scene to investigate the cause of the collision.
