Former England skipper Gerrard: England form had to read

0

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard says he is not getting too carried away with the current England squad.

Roy Hodgson's Three Lions sit on top of the Group B table for Euro2016 qualifying with a perfect record having won all six of their matches thus far.

But former captain Gerrard is aware that England have only beaten the likes of Switzerland, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania and San Marino which makes their true form hard to assess.

"I'm experienced enough not to get carried away at the moment," said Gerrard. "With respect to the other teams in the group, England should be beating them and beating them comfortably," the LA Galaxy midfielder said.

"So we'll have to wait to see how far the team has come and how much Roy has improved them. And that will be in 2016. I don't believe he'll know until next year."

England meet San Marino in Serravalle on Saturday before hosting the Swiss at Wembley next week.
