A man, identified simply as Banjo was hit by a trailer and died at the spot on Monday, March 21.

It was reliably gathered that the deceased was a pool operator and he lives around Idobi market in Ijebu Ode.

The incident, according to our source occurred around 9:30am around Arigbabu roundabout, Ijebu Ode.

An eyewitness informed that the man was hit by the moving trailer while he was about locking his vehicle.

“The incident was still like a drama. The man alighted from his car and was coming to buy paper at the area. As he came down and was locking his car, the trailer, coming from along Ibadan road heading towards Oyingbo side, hit the man and knocked him down.

“People ran there to see if they could rescue the man but he had died. The driver of the trailer was whisked away by the police.

“To me, I don’t see anything in the arrest as the man will be released soon but the deed has been done,” the eyewitness posited.

The remains of the man has been deposited at the Ijebu Ode general hospital mortuary along Omo Owo road, Ijebu Ode.

A police source from Igbeba police divisional area confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

The source disclosed that the man is in their custody while the trailer has been impounded.

Efforts to get the deceased relatives to comment on the incident proved abortive as two of the relatives contacted had their lines switched off.
